Responsible Unleashed Fun for Fido (RUFF)

The RUFF committee was formally organized in June of 2005 with a goal to collaborate with the Blue Springs Parks and Recreation Department to create an off-leash dog park in Blue Springs. Dog parks are gaining in popularity, and any dog will show you why. Dogs and their doting owners love running and playing in a park together, along with other dogs and dog lovers. Off-leash dog parks provide a wonderful environment for dogs and people alike to exercise and socialize. RUFF volunteers have raised more than $25,000.00 for dog park expenses. Each May they hold their annual Pooches on the Parkway fundraiser for dogs and their owners.
After many months of research, planning, and fundraising—and with approval from the City Council—the 2.7-acre dog park within Gregory O. Grounds Park at 1049 N.E. 20th Street is complete! It is on the southeast side of Lake Remembrance, and connects to a small pond. The dog park includes a pond for exercising and training dogs, such as retrievers.
